MY FAVOURITE THINGS – Art in the Style of Eric Carle

Students use paints and different objects to create a variety of textured papers, and then use the papers to create a collage in the style of Eric Carle that tells something about their favourite things.

Supplies:

Crayola Construction Paper - 22.9 cm x 30.5 cm (9" x 12")
Crayola Marker & Watercolour Paper - 22.9 cm x 30.5 cm (9" x 12")
Crayola Washable Glue Sticks
Crayola Scissors
Crayola Washable Project Paint - 10 Count

Steps:

Use a variety of objects and paint to create different textures on your paper.
Dip the object into the paint and press it onto the paper to make a mark.
Use the tools in lots of different ways to see what happens.

Create a variety of colours and textures on the papers.
Notice what happens when you change the pressure as you press an object onto the paper.

What happens when you drag a comb through the paint?

Make lots of different textured papers.

Use watercolour paints to cover a sheet of paper.
This will be the background for your collage.
Set it aside to dry.
