DIY Paper Umbrella

When it rains, it fleurs! April showers bring May flowers in this blooming paper umbrella, a fun spring craft for kids.

Supplies:

  • Crayola Construction Paper
  • Crayola Washable School Glue
  • Crayola Scissors
  • Pencil

CIY Staff Tips:

  • To add more dimension and create 3D flowers, cut a small slit between flower petals, fold inward, and glue middle of flower to secure.

Steps:

Step 1

Sketch 4 rectangles on construction paper approximately 5.5”H x 2”W. Sketch umbrella handle and umbrella tip on different colour construction paper. Cut out.

Repeat step 3 for all rectangles.

Cut construction paper sheet in half widthwise.

Step 4

Glue handle to construction papersheet. Glue cone shapes on top of handle to create umbrella shape. Glue umbrella tip to cones.

Step 5

Sketch and cut out construction paper flowers.

Step 6

Glue flowers to cardstock sheet, cascading out of umbrella. Let all glue steps dry 1–2 hours.

Display your blooming umbrella to celebrate spring!
